On October 16, 2017, Stephen “PS” Smith with the Speedgoat Rugby Club and Bobby Watkins with the Wyoming Rugby Organization will be hosting a Rookie Rugby clinic for Frontier Academy in Fremont County. Rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States, and Rookie Rugby clinics provides a non-contact introduction to the sport for all ages and genders. Kids love to play rugby because it is a continuous game where everyone gets to run, pass, catch, and score!
Smith and Watkins will focus on the development of rugby skills such as passing and positioning. Sportsmanship, a core value in the sport of rugby, will be developed as well. The coaches will also gift every kid with a rugby ball and Wyoming Rugby water bottle as well as participate in the games themselves.
The clinic represents the culmination of the effort put forth by the team from Wyoming Rugby and Speedgoat Rugby to bring rugby to Fremont County. Smith is quoted as saying, “It has been a vision of mine and the Speedgoat rugby club to implement clinics in and around Fremont County in order to expose young people to the incredible sport of rugby.” Smith also noted that he would like to see these clinics spread to different communities within Fremont County.
Smith and Watkins are enthusiastic to introduce the youth to this amazing sport. If you are interested in having a clinic in your area, please contact Bobby Watkins at firstname.lastname@example.org.
